Yes I know... another book series. This one is the Kay Scarpetta series by Patricia Cornwell. More crime, drama, suspense, and mystery... oh yeah a bit of relationship disasters.
I really should have reread the last couple of books from this series because honestly I couldn't remember what happened in the last couple of books. I vaguely remember the crew was in Florida, but I couldn't remember much more than that.
Now Kay and her crew (ex-cop Marino, niece Lucy, and assistant Rose) move to Charleston, SC where once again they strive to figure out "whodunit". All of their lives were intertwined in this story... a bit too much if you ask me. Surely even a mastermind wouldn't/couldn't come up with that much planning. I don't want to give away the plot, but I will just say Marino's unrequited love for Kay changes their relationship forever.
Like the "In death" series by JD Robb, there is one aspect of the Kay Scarptetta series that is just too unbelievable. It makes finding information so convenient, but really... too convenient. Lucy (Kay's niece) is an ex-FBI agent who basically can do EVERYTHING. Her FBI career had much to do with computers, security, etc, but she can also fly planes, helicopters and knows all about forensic crime scene stuff. It's too unrealistic for me at times.

Cornwell has blamed negative reviews of BOOK OF THE DEAD on the Bush administration and the family of the late Ruth Graham.
She posted a notice on her website and sent out emails to her fans.
The post has been taken down, but you can find verbatim copies of it on amazon.com in a discussion thread associated with the book.
Oh. And all of the people who didn't like the book are "hateful," according to Cornwell.
Truth really is stranger than fiction.
