I finally caught up on all the "In Death" books that are currently out, but that's just in time for Strangers in Death that will be released on Feb 19, 2008. This was probably the best one so far.

In Creation in Deatha serial killer comes back to New York and all resourses are used to take this man down once and for all. Nine years ago when Eve was a detective under the leadership of her mentor Captain Feeney, a task force was put together to find the Groom. The killer was never found, but this time Eve is the one in charge, and when the killer starts going after Roarke's employees, Eve promises to stop the Groom.

Unlike in previous books where Roarke helps out here and there, in Creation in Deathhe goes with Eve to the first dead body and is by her side the entire time... even working in the war room side by side with cops.

The killer in this book studies his victims (he calls them partners), convinces them to come to him (read the book to find out how), and tortures them with hot, cold, sharp, and dull sensations. He continues to do so until they no longer cry out from pain, then slashes their wrists so they slowly bleed out, and finally writes on their bodies how long they lasted.

Overall I really liked the book, but my only problem or disappointment was with the final showdown between Eve and the killer. It was very anticlimatic, and it was pretty much over before it began.

If you've read this book or have any comments or questions about the series as a whole, please feel free to leave a message for me!
