I had been in the mood for a different kind of paranormal (non vampire or werewolf variety) and had read some good reviews about "The Grail King". So, when I saw this book at the library, I decided to give it a try... and I am so glad that I did.
Owein has been gifted the sight by the gods and Clara needs him to use his gift to help her find a grail that has been stolen from her family. The problem is that Owein is an outlaw Celt and Clara is the daughter of his Roman enemy. Yet Owein finds himself drawn to her and determined to help her and himself in the process.
This book had many things working in it's favor. First was the time period. It is set around 130AD. There aren't many books set in that time and I found it to be a nice change of pace. Next, it is a unique twist on the grail legends. This was a fresh take on the grail and is set before the Arthurian legends. And last, it's the first book in a series! I love series books and I can wait to find the next book.
