Nicole Byrd offers a riveting novel with "A Lady Betrayed". Adrian is on the run from a cousin that is determined to kill him. Seeking shelter from a storm, he finds a gazebo and an unconscious woman, Madeline. He takes care of her, but when they are discovered in each others arms, he announces their engagement.
This is the first novel I've read by Ms. Byrd and now I'm a fan. This book is somewhere in the middle of a series, but it stands quite well on it's own. I found the characters to be charming and the main plot satisfying and the subplot a nice diversion. All-in-all, a very entertaining read.
