Jen: This weekend we celebrate Adelle Laudan's birthday with an interview. Adelle, will you please share a short bio with us?
Adelle: First thank you for having me here at Book Talk. I live in Southern Ontario and am a Mom of four. My two teen girls are still under my wing. Life as a single mom is interesting to say the least. There are three things in life I am most passionate about, family, writing and motorcycles.
Jen: Tell us about Christmas Magic and where it's available.
Adelle: Christmas Magic will be out just in time for the holidays. It’s a fun novella, I think you’ll all enjoy! Coming December 2009 at Red Rose Publishing.
Jen: At what age did you discover writing and when were you first published? Tell us your call story.
Adelle: Writing has always been a release of sorts—a place to retreat from a rather challenging childhood. As I got older, I started writing short stories, and only shared them with a select few.
My first published work was Juliana, which is being re-released in a trilogy titled Triad of Hope with Red Rose Publishing. I’ve since learned I was very fortunate to have my first work contracted on first try.
Jen: Are there any other writers, published or not, in your family?
Adelle: My family is not what you call, tight knit. But, as far as I know, I am the only writer so far.
Jen: Have you noticed your writer's voice has changed over the years due to your experience? If so, how?
Adelle: I think as writers we are always evolving. I see a big difference in my writing. I think today, my confidence shows more than ever.
Jen: Do you have any “must haves” with you while you’re writing?
Adelle: Not really. I do find I am at my best when the house is quiet. Being deaf, I’ve been known to turn off my hearing aids when on a deadline and the girls are under foot.
Jen: Do you have a writing routine?
Adelle: No I don’t. Unfortunately my muse is a fickle b*tch. LOL There is no other way to describe her.
Jen: How do you pick the character’s names?
Adelle: Quite often I look for names on the internet that match their heritage. I always have my names picked out before I start writing.
Jen: What is it about the romance genre that appeals to you?
Adelle: I think it’s the broad spectrum of the genre. I tend to lean towards Romantic Suspense
Jen: What did you do to celebrate the sale of your first book?
Adelle: After I saw my first book in print, I bought myself a new computer lol Now, I can’t afford to do that every time a print book comes out, that’s for sure. If one day my dream to land a contract with one of the bigger houses comes true, I’ve promised my girls a shopping spree!
Jen: Is there a genre that you’d like to write? Is there a genre you’ll probably stay away from and why?
Adelle: I love to write a book where I can incorporate the biker lifestyle. A book where I can portray them in a more positive light than the media at times portrays us.
I don’t think I’ll ever write a historical, but you never know. I did try my hand at erotica…let’s just say you won’t see that genre with my name attached to it LOL I will write a Horror one day, but probably not until all of my kids have left the nest.
Jen: Do you have a favorite character or one that you identify most with?
Adelle: I put a lot of myself in all of my characters. I am closest to Juliana, she’s my baby. I admire her strength to get through such a horrific marriage and find love again.
Jen: What’s the most interesting comment you have received about your books?
Adelle: I’m not sure it it’s interesting or not, but the most memorable one is the first time someone told me they cried over something I’d written.
Jen: What's next for you?
Adelle: I have a book I’m partially revising for Avalon Books. I am very excited about it.
Jen: Where can you be found on the web?
Adelle: I’m all over the place. Most recently I’ve joined a fabulous group of authors at

Jen: Is there anything you’d like to ask our readers?
Adelle: Not so much ask, but today is my birthday! To celebrate I’d love to offer one lucky participant from today’s interview a chance to win an eBook of their choice (any of my backlist). I also want to pick someone to win this fun mouse pad and pen.
To enter, all you have to do is leave a comment here. I’ll pick two winners tomorrow (Sept 20) at noon to give any latecomers a chance to chime in. And be sure to come back on Sunday to see if you're a winner.
I want to show off my new cover for Triad of Hope, being released soon with Red Rose Publishing.

Hi Adele,
Your covers are fantastic.
I agree. Writers are constantly evolving. I've been writing for over two years now and I noticed the difference between my earlier drafts (still sitting in the back burner) and my recent ones. In such a short time, I learned so many precious things.
Happy birthday to you and good luck on your books. Your Christmas cover captured the essence of the word holiday.
Happy Birthday, Adele!
You are such an inspiration, and this interview touched me in many ways.
You sound like an amazing women! I think your covers rock and I look forward to getting my hands on your releases. Thank you so much for sharing a small part of your life with us...You will without a doubt see me on your sites. ;)

Happy B-day Adele!!! Nice to see a girl from Ontario rockin' her creative chomps...I haven't as yet read any of your work yet but am definitely eager to check some out now...Great interview!! By the way...what type of bike do you ride? I've always wanted to go for a bike ride...seems like lots of fun...
Thanks for the birthday wishes!
I don't ride a bike of my own now. Some major back surgery put an end to that. I'm saving for a trike now. Need a good book deal lol
Good luck in the draw!
also wishing you a happy birthday!!! enjoy it and have fun.

Love the cover for Triad of Hope. In some way I am doing the above or should be doing it as I am on a journey with Radiation treatment for Breast Cancer. All of us need healing, hope and self-discovery.
Thanks for the super prizes; cute pen/mouse pad.
Stopping by to show a Diva some love...and of course to wish you a happy birthday. [[[[hugs]]]]

Book Talk with J&J!!
I enjoy your writing for so many personal reasons and after reading this interview know I understand this connection I felt to your writing. Thank you for your lovely books. The cover art is magnificent! I hope your birthday was wonderful filled with joy love and happiness spent doing the things you love with those you love surrounding you!! Thank you for taking time on your birthday to do the interview it was a pleasure to read it again.I would enjoy biker themed booked as I agree they are much maligned in the main stream out there. So if we had a voice with a story that was not just for show it would be a great read.
Charlie,
Thank you for the kind words. It's sentiments like this that make it all worthwhile. Kudo's to you!
Wishing you Miles of Smiles :)
