Ever wanted to try a new author or genre, but just didn't want to fork over the money?

Let's play a game.

Pretend you have $100 to buy for books, but you have to buy something you would not ordinarily purchase. Say you love contemporary romance, but have wanted to read something in the paranormal genre. Or you love romance in general, but were eyeing the new photography how-to book. Yes, of course I know you can pick and choose for free at the library, but what would you purchase with $100 adding to your permanent collection?

Check out the current bestsellers at Amazon for ideas! Let me know what you would choose!

One hundred bucks?? Sigh. I think I would buy the complete set of Harry Potter. I have copies of the books here and then, but not a complete set. They are definitely not display worthy.

Hmmm...this is tough. LOL. I would have to go with James Pattersons YA series. I want to read them. :)

Finally figured out what I would buy.

You know those big books (coffee table type books) with lots of big pictures. At my local Books-a-Million they have them at the end of the aisles opened, so everyone can look through them. THAT'S what I would spend my money on. My problem would be which ones do I choose.

I love the solar system, history, and science books. Maybe I'd have enough for one of each!

    Yep... that's what I want!

Ooooohh! I just thought of something else. Remember those books that had the 3-D pictures, but in order to see the 3-D image you had to almost cross your eyes to focus. I forget what they are called, but I want those too!!!

I would probably buy the whole Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris in hardback. I love her! All her books in fact, but particularly the Sookie world.

I would buy the books I still don't have from Rick R Reed.

Oh a hundred bucks for books. I would most likely hit the historical romance section and buy to the bucks where gone, might just get me a suspense while I was at it. Just put me in the romance section and I am good to go!

If I were to buy a non-romance book, it would be a craft book. There's a series of beaded Christmas ornament covers I'd love.

Interesting question. I read mainly historical romances but I like a good mystery/suspense/thriller on occasion. Now if I had $100 to spend, I think I would look for books by James Patterson, John Grisham, Nate Kenyon & Kathy Reichs.

I read mainly historical and contemporary romances. If I had to spend the money on a genre I don't usually read, it would be paranormal. I guess I would start with the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward.

There are a ton of nonfiction memoirs of the L.A. 80s punk scene, and I'd love to get a broad range, and really wallow in the atmosphere and history there. Yeah, I could easily blow $100 doing that.

Since I mostly read romance, I'd have to get something outside that pretty wide genre...

I'd probably start surfing the mysteries sections and see what's out there since I've really moved away from the genre in the past 10 years. And then I might check out some of the books that Jessica's been wanting me to read for years... those classics and thrillers that she loves so much. :)
