July Contest

Posted by Jessica | 5:18 PM | | 17 comments »

We have a special prize this month. In June, I won a contest from author Sarah McKerrigan. Problem was I had won the same contest several months ago. So, instead of me receiving a duplicate prize, Sarah has agreed to allow me to give it to one of you.

So, what is the prize? It's a small wooden treasure box (just like the one in the trailer) filled with a surprise.

To enter, watch the trailer and then leave a comment about what you liked or didn't like about the trailer. To complete your entry, you must either leave your email address in your comment or send an email to admin.bookblog@gmail.com.

The contest will end on Thursday, July 30. And due to postage, is only open to readers within the US.

Love historical! The setting of the snow and the mysterious feel was neat. And loved that scene with the wooden box.

Awesome trailer! And book sounds really good too...going on my BTB list right now. I liked the voice of the narrator...kind of sexy and scary! I think I would like to listen to an audio book with him reading the story.

I loved the music and the mysterious feel of the snow falling. I'm wondering if the walking cat image is just an illusion to "the game of cat and mouse" or if there's something important about a cat in the story? It had a paranormal feel, which makes me interested, but I don't think that's intentional. If there's no cat in the story, I'd suggest putting in another picture indicating the actual game of cat and mouse in the book. Sword fight, crossed pistols, whatever works. Lastly, I found the glaring whiteness of the dice at the end odd and distracting. They become more of a draw than your book cover. They also get too big behind the book. (When working on the stage, they tell you never wear white as it draws the eye to you and the audience can't watch anything else.) But these are honestly nit picky things and this is one of the best trailers I've seen (and I just got through judging a contest). Well done!

I'm actually finding this a little funny. I watched the trailer twice. Some of the things other liked, I didn't and the reverse.

I liked the music, the snow falling over a mysterious scene, the white ghostly cat and kissing couple, and the dice at the end.

I didn't like the narrators voice the first time around but it didn't bug me the second time.

The first time around I wasn't entirely sure if the setting was old England or Old West. The music said old England, but the words selected sounded like a western. Outlaw, lawman, game of chance, sleight of hand and the dice. I know they all fit the story but on first viewing I thought Western.

I really enjoyed the trailer alot though. And hey - I watched it more than once!

CYBERMAGE's premise is intriguing, and like Caffey, I love historical settings.

Awesome Trailer-I like the shadow over images that coincide with the audio. The trailer makes the book look very dramatic and something to look forward to reading. I like the treasure box reference in that we can almost see inside but then the hand is moved.
I would like to be entered into the contest.

I thought the trailer was well done. I don't usually watch book trailers as I prefer to read a blurb and an excerpt to get an idea of what a books about but this was interesting.

I liked the trailer - the computer simulated background seemed to blend pretty well with the entire layout. I am glad you didn't us sim characters though - they always rub me the wrong way.

    Good luck with the release!!
