I was lucky to receive an ARC (Advanced Reading Copy) of this book from Alison Kent with the understanding that I would review it before it's December release. So, I read it this past week and here are my thoughts...

Finn is in Miami on a PI assignment-- to dig into the personal life of Roland for a potential suitor. But when Olivia, Roland's boss, spots Finn staking out her boutique, she approaches him about a photographic project that she wants to undertake.

That is the blurb condensed down to two sentences. Problem is, that's only half the story. The other half of the story deals with Roland and his life and love interest, Jodi.

I rather wish Finn and Olivia's romance was explored a little more. Roland and Jodi got a lot more time than I felt a sub-plot (and one that wasn't even mentioned in the blurb) deserved. Characters, relationship and plot probably could have been developed more if they were given more time and both stories would have excelled if they were given their own books.

All that said, I did like the book. It's the first full length Alison Kent novel that I've read and I'm intrigued and want to read more by her. Word of warning, this a pretty spicy book, so if you don't like to read about bedroom play, you'll probably want to pass on by.

There are quite a few more SG-5 series books. I've read books that had two stories in it, actually had two HEA's in it, I think that was AGAIN THE MAGIC by Lisa Kleypas and that one I loved both and its still a favorite of mine, but I kept thinking of the secondary story and wished they had a full story! Some had said they loved that one more than the other. So I've seen that happen with more than one attention to a couple's story but not that much. I do recommend the other books, there are some that are short, but others are full length novels.

I associate having two stories going on at once in romance with Alison. I think she was the first one I'd read 'in romance' who'd done that. I really enjoy Alison's stories and in most of the books I've loved having the different povs/plots going on. I do know of at least one though that still whispers in my mind where I truly wanted to know more about the secondary story going on and wish they'd had their own book. So I can totally see what you mean. I'm looking forward to reading her latest.
