I'm going white water rafting on Saturday. It's a family trip and the first time I've gone in 10 years. I'm really excited! This is one of the most adventurous things I've ever done (although last week's tattoo is probably up there on the list).
Deadly Gamble is the first book in a new series by Linda Lael Miller. It's contemporary, suspense, romance and western-- all rolled into one.
I somehow ended up with two copies of the book so I've decided to give away one copy to someone who tells me about an adventure they been on. And if you're not the adventurous type, then tell me something that you'd like to do or why you've never done anything out of your comfort zone.
I'll leave this contest open for a week and draw a winner next Friday, August 22 sometime around 5 pm PDT.
Edited on Sunday to add: So, yesterday was the big rafting day. We left Spokane at about 5am and had a 4 hour drive to Riggins, Idaho. The first half of the day was pretty tame rapids, just getting our feet wet. I sat in the back of the raft and enjoyed the ride. After lunch, I switched places with my sister and sat in the front with my niece and nephew. Wow! The rapids were much better! The whole family had an awesome day. We're all exhausted (we got home about 11pm) and sore (from sitting in the raft and sunburns), but it's all good. My sister and brother-in-law (married to my other sister) are both celebrating 30 birthdays this coming year and we are talking about going rafting again as a birthday present to them. We'll just go earlier in the season for better rapids. We took pics with a waterproof disposable camera... so as soon as I have pics in hand and scanned onto the computer, I'll share them.

My family and I decided to go on a road trip for vacation this year, which consisted of the OK panhandle and then to Pike's Peak in Colorado. It was soo fun as went began to climb the 14,110 foot mountain. At times, you could look out the car window and see straight down. Made my stomach a bit queasy. LOL!
Most adventurous thing I did was after I left university. Went on my own on a month long coach tour of the US and Canada. The highlight was seeing the Grand Canyon and Old Faithful. Although walking on a glacier was cool too.
I'm so jealous. I've never been white water rafting... sounds scary to me. I guess I'm not the most adventerous person, but in my mind I'm willing to do way more than I actually do. I think if I had some friends that were more willing and able (time and finance wise), I would do more.
A friend of mine keeps trying to talk me into going to another country to teach english. Apparently there are a lot of places that want native English speakers to teach. If I could get into a country where the primary language is Spanish, I would be able become fluent so much quicker than my current learning techniques (from a book).
I wish I could be that person who can up and leave and be comfortable roaming around another country by myself.
Don't know if I'm eligible for the book, but I wanted to add a little something.

When I was 13 I climbed the Great Wall of China while on vacation with my parents in Beijing. That was an adventure to be sure, but it was so incredibly awesome. Wanna know a secret about something else adventurous I did? Do ya? Do ya? lol Okay, I'll tell you, but only cause you asked so nicely. :P I nabbed a broken chunk of the Great Wall of China (about 1/2 the size of a brick) and took it home with me. GASP! Yes, that's right. I have a genuine piece of the Great Wall of China. I'm such a bad girl. LOL

Now that I have two young kids at home, I don't do a lot of adventuring, but I recently went whale watching off the coast of Cape Breton, N.S. We saw sea turtles, porpoises, minke and pilot whales, very cool! And we got caught in a small squall, very choppy water and high winds. I'm proud to say that I didn't toss my cookies once ;- )
Ruby... I'm not a heights person. I tend to get nervous when driving those mountain roads with sheer drops.
Dawn... the road trip sounds like a lot of fun. My family did a lot of road trips when I was younger. Got out of the habit after high school.
Jess... I've always wanted to get back to Europe and experience as an adult. But I'd never go by myself and right now finances are a huge problem. :(
Rebekah... How cool that you got a piece of the Great Wall! But image if everyone took home a piece...
Cheryl... The have whale watching excursion over near Seattle/ Vancouver (BC) that I've always thought would be fun. And not tossing your cookies is great. My nephew got a little seasick after lunch on our rafting trip. He managed not to toss his cookies either. :)
I'm not the most adventurous of people. But I used to go on long hikes on local mountains with a small group of friends, during the winter in snow. And there'd be moments where my heart would be pounding as I stood tiredly still on the side of a mountain trying to get by breathing under control as I was thinking if I made one wrong move I could die. Well nobody died!
I'm not adventurous at all! The most exciting thing I've done is climb part way up the trail at Mt. Hood in Oregan and you could see the lodge the whole time! lol

I'm not really the adventurous type but there is one thing I really want to do. I would love to travel across Canada and the US in a RV, visiting every province and state and hopefully seeing all of the castles and old forts that there are in North America.
I'm not the adventurous type either. I like my feet set firmly on level ground. But my dream trip is to drive across country and on the Alcan Highway to visit Alaska.
I am not the adventurous type either. I am afraid of hieghts and just about everything else...lol
But I did go horseback riding once
and my horse decided to go off the beaten and take me on a fast trip thru the woods. I have been on few float trips in my teen years but now am pretty boring. I would rather sit at home and read. :)
I want to go white water rafting and sky diving.
Thanks to everyone who told me about their adventures (or their dreams). I just pulled Sue's name out of the bowl as the winner of the book. Sue, please e-mail me at admin.bookblog@gmail.com with your mailing address.
