This book was very slow going for me. I had some things going on in my life, and I needed something a bit more engaging than Christ the Lord to distract me back into reading.

Normally I love historical fiction, and I did like Anne Rice's previous book, Christ the Lord: Road to Egypt, but I wasn't thrilled with her current release. I did eventually finish it after my slow start, but that may have more to do with my need to return it to the library.

Road to Egypt was about Jesus' as a young boy and his family's trek to Egypt.

Road to Cana was about Jesus as a man right before he gets baptized by his cousin John. His family doesn't understand why he hasn't taken a wife even though Jesus is in love with Avigail. He knows his fate is not to marry but to be a part of something much bigger. If you are familiar with the Bible then you probably know this story, but I always find it more interesting to read a story where you can get inside the characters minds, know what they are thinking, and see the world through their eyes.

Overall this book was ok just slow.
