“Miracle on Christmas Eve” by Shirley Jump is a fast, feel-good novel. Jessica is the town’s Mrs. Claus. But when her husband passes away, she no longer is in the Christmas mood and decides to spend the holidays at the beach. But before she can leave on her vacation, CJ comes to town to claim the daughter he didn’t know about and enlists Jessica in giving Sarah the Christmas she never had. As they spend time together, they discover a Christmas miracle.
I suppose my one complaint about this story is the development of the romance between Jessica and CJ. The characters fall in love over the matter of days, but it’s not really explained. Ms. Jump explains the attraction to each other, but seems to think that’s enough to satisfy the reader and it wasn’t enough for this reader. Past this issue, I enjoyed the book. I loved watching the adults with their interaction with Sarah and did watch both of them fall in love with the girl and become a family.
