March Contest

Posted by Jessica | 6:00 AM | | 23 comments »

I'm curious as to what most of our readers of the blog read -- genre wise. So, this month, leave me a comment about your favorite genre of book (be specific, like historical romance or urban fantasy) and tell me a little about why this is your favorite genre.

On Sunday, March 29 I'll pick a random commenter or two to win some book off my shelf. I'll try to give them something from their favorite genre (unless you like horror... then you're out of luck, but perhaps we can work something out). I strongly suggest leaving an email address or subscribing to the posts to see when the winner announcement is made.

    Jen,

I'm sure I could supply a few books to be given away also. I'll have to look into what I can safely part with. As you know, I don't generally read romance books, so I'll have some from other genres for those who don't want a romance book. Remind me, and I'll give you some titles.

My favorite genre is paranormal anything or paranormal romance. I like it because it really is a genre where you can leave real life behind for a while and just enjoy the story and characters.

My favorites change with my mood usually. But lately I seem to be reading mostly Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance. Guess I need my WooWoo factor

I adore romantic suspense. There is something unique about the sexual tension in a suspense, and the heart-pounding action just makes the romance so much better for me. That being said, I find some authors are much better at creating plausible storylines then others. I do like the mystery solving or crimes to be realistic and credible.

I love shapeshifters they are my favorite, I read historicals, and contemps. I don't care for horror

My favorite genre is probably mystery/thriller, although I read just about everything. I'm actually quite an eclectic reader. However, I have found few authors that write truly good paranormal, but there are a few out there. Not one of my favorite genres.

I'm a big fan of the Paranormal genre, love those vamps!

I love paranormal romance. I love vamps and shifters. The last year or so have really gotten into urban fantasy as well, because takes the paranormal and pumps to the next level. Usually with urban fantasy develops worlds and great character development.

I love all genres of romance but my favorite has to be paranormal. The reasons? Hmmm... I think because I love the world building, how the story doesn't always have to be politically correct, and the uber-alpha heroes - so sexy!

I love most types of romances. My favorite sub-genres are erotica of any type, regency era historicals and paranormals. To be more specific with paranormals, shifters, vamps, futuristics. Just not time travels!

    Hi
I love mysteries with paranormal overtones or not. I like to read series. Like Patterson's Alex Cross or Nalini Singh with her psych's and were's and humans. Then there is Patricia Briggs and her series that I am reading is Mercy or Carrie Vaughn who writes about Kitty the werewolf and of course there is Kelley Armstong and, is this to much information? LOL What can I say I love to read and with that I also love to write. So mysteries, serial killers, werewolves, not fond of vampires, romantic suspense.
    Thanks

    Hello,

My favorite is romantic comedies with suspense. I love Janet Evanovich, Vicki Lewis Thompson and Jennfier Crusie! It sure would be fun if they visited your blog site!

I also like paranormal romance. Just discovered it like a year ago. I have been reading a lot of vampire books like the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris, Jennifer Estep's books of superheroes, Pat Richardson's GREYWALKER, Susan Krinard's books, etc.

I love to read, always have, always will. Other than science fiction or horror, it really depends what I am in the mood for. Sometimes, I need a "sappy" romance that will make me forget the mondane every day crap in my life. I keep a stack of "self-help and spiritual" books by my night table that I'll read again and again when ever I need a little "push" to get me through the next day. I love historical romances, psychological thrillers, mysteries... reading is such an escape from all that surrounds us. We can travel the world, meet new exciting people, have wild passionate romances.. all by picking up a book and turning the pages. We can be young, old, famous, or struggle. It's an amazing journey, reading a book. My mother tells me, "I have never seen you without a book, ever." I don't think I can live without them, they haven't failed me yet. :o)

Paranormal. For me it's a great way to escape the humdrum of everyday life. Kerrelyn Sparks is one of my favs because she gives me the blood with laughter. I'm one of those weird readers that need HEA EVERYTIME. Second to that, anything erotica.

I plugged the names of everyone who commented into Random.org and got two winners... Cheryl and Donna.

Ladies, I need you each to email me at admin.bookblog@gmail.com by April 15 to claim your prizes. In your email, include your mailing address and the genre of book you'd like to receive. We'll then find something off my (or my blog partners) shelf that will be a welcome addition to your library.
